At Net Energy Internet we believe that true reliability and server performance can only be achieved by using quality, branded components throughout a machine coupled with extensive testing and knowledge. It is because of this that every server and workstation throughout our entire company is built, tested and delivered by Dell and only Dell.

All of the servers we use are Dell PowerEdge servers and are owned by Net Energy Internet and once delivered, are tested, installed and configured by us for their specific purpose.

We do not bundle Web, e-mail and statistics applications onto a single server, instead we prefer to have each function separated onto seperate equipment. Whilst more expensive, the reliability and performance far outweighs the additional cost.

Throughout our servers you will find Intel processors, SCSI/SAS hard disks and significant amounts of memory and storage space. Failover is provided by hardware RAID controllers in a RAID 1 configuration, or redundant servers. Additionally all of our servers are regularly backed up, with the backups stored offsite.

Furthermore both our network and servers are monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with automatic pager notification.

Network

Our entire internal network is 100MB, fully switched with core servers having multiple connections to switches providing both redundancy should a network interface fail as well as 200MB internal connectity.

At the same time we also have a separate management network. This ensures that management functions such as backups, software updates and the transfer of log files does not interfere with the Internet facing network performance of our servers.

Data is delivered to the Internet through our firewalls, using multiple Cisco routers running HSRP to ensure data can be delivered even in the event of a router failure. Using multiple, diversely routed Internet connections to different points in the UK further ensures data delivery should one of our connections fail.

As a Local Internet Registry (LIR), we also have our own routable assignment of IP addresses from RIPE, allowing us to expand our network without limitation as and when required.

Facilities

We have open plan offices based in the South West operating as our main operations centre, containing all sales, accounts and technical support staff. Onsite we also have our own server facility providing us with immediate access to all of our equipment, allowing us to monitor and maintain our systems with the minimum amount of effort.
